Sneha Sagar Society
Vision and Mission : To take God's Love to our underprivileged brethren living in the cities, slums and remote villages of India.
Charism: Serve God in Serving the poor and the needy.
The Society was founded by Sr. Martha Mondal in the year 1999 and was registered as a trust in the year 2001, 31st March. It started with Balwadi and coaching classes for the slum and the street children. Later, in 2005 Helpers of Jesus sisters Congregation was formed and recognised by his Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias in the year 2008.
The Society works among the poor and the needy, educating children and rehabilitating those that are handicapped. The Society has 10 communities, two orphanages and 4 home for the aged for destitute women. They also have a training centre for nuns.
They have been conducting the following outreach programs since 6 years:
1. Feeding the homeless once a week.
2. Regularly donating food to poor families in the area.
3. Providing poor families of all castes and creeds with rations once a month.
In Panvel, the Society has an old age home for women. In this centre, they have 4 sisters and 2 candidates who are taking care of 12 senior destitute women over the age of 65. The women are provided with good shelter, clothing, food medical facilities, and entertainment. All their needs are taken care of to help them live their lives in peace and harmony instead of in poverty and hardships.
